The latest version of Apache Pulsar is 4.x, with supported versions mainly including 2.x, 3.x, and 4.x. Currently, Tencent Cloud TDMQ for Apache Pulsar provides cloud-hosted commercial versions that are compatible with the open-source version, and the current primary versions are 2.9.2 and 3.0.0.
TDMQ for Apache Pulsar continuously iterates on features, fixes bugs, and addresses stability risks based on the open-source edition. While maintaining full compatibility with the open-source edition, TDMQ for Apache Pulsar has been deeply optimized for actual enterprise application scenarios to provide users with a more stable and reliable messaging service experience.
This document introduces the open-source edition support mechanism of TDMQ for Apache Pulsar, including supported versions, lifecycle instructions, selection recommendations, and version upgrade instructions.

Version Number Introduction

The version format of TDMQ for Apache Pulsar is x.y.z_a.b.
x.y.z indicates the compatible open-source Apache Pulsar version, with a specific description as follows:
x (major version): indicates major updates, which may include incompatible API changes.
y (minor version): indicates new feature additions while maintaining backward compatibility.
z (patched version): indicates bug fixes or minor optimizations, with no new features introduced.
a.b indicates the TDMQ for Apache Pulsar Enhanced Version provided by TDMQ for Apache Pulsar.

Version Lifecycle Description of TDMQ for Apache Pulsar

TDMQ for Apache Pulsar is a message queue independently maintained by Tencent Cloud with a code branch that is 100% compatible with the Apache Pulsar protocol. It features high performance, high availability, high reliability, high elasticity, and high security. The lifecycle of all its versions is independent of the open-source community lifecycle and is exclusively maintained and managed by the Tencent Cloud TDMQ team. To ensure business stability, plan your upgrade schedule according to the product lifecycle and ensure timely upgrades to supported versions.

Minor Version Upgrade Instructions

TDMQ for Apache Pulsar supports minor version upgrades through the console. For specific operations, see Upgrading the Minor Engine Version.

Major Version Upgrade Instructions

TDMQ for Apache Pulsar currently does not support major version upgrades through the console. Console-based major version upgrade capabilities will be provided in a future release.
