Account freezing occurs in two scenarios: freezing upon pay-as-you-go resource activation and freezing upon yearly/monthly subscription resource order placement.

Frozen funds for pay-as-you-go resources

When you activate a pay-as-you-go (postpaid) resource, a portion of the funds in your account will be frozen (the cost for one billing cycle of the service * the quantity purchased). The frozen fees cannot be offset by vouchers. If your account balance is less than the frozen amount, the resource cannot be activated.
After a resource is released (including manual release or release due to overdue payment), the corresponding frozen funds will be automatically unfrozen. These frozen funds are not actually consumed and become available for use again once unfrozen.

Frozen funds for yearly/monthly subscribed resources

The transaction flow for a new yearly/monthly subscription (prepaid) resource order is: Place Order > Freeze > Deliver > Unfreeze > Deduct. When you place an order for a new yearly/monthly subscription resource, the system freezes an amount equal to the order's cost in your account. After the resource is successfully delivered, the frozen amount for that order is unfrozen and used to pay for the order.
For example, if an order costs 100 USD, 100 USD will be frozen in your account after you place the order and make the payment. After the resource is successfully delivered, the frozen amount is automatically unfrozen to pay for that order. If the delivery fails, no payment is deducted, and the frozen funds are unfrozen and returned to your account balance.

No, frozen funds are not actually paid to the platform, but they cannot be spent and will be unfrozen and available only after the resource is released.

You can go to Billing Center > Account Info to view the frozen amount.


3. Where does the frozen amount come from?

The frozen amount is deducted from the available credit.

4. Will the frozen amount be refunded immediately after I proactively return the device?

No. When a resource is released, the frozen amount will be unfrozen according to the policies of the specific product.
