Scenarios

In scenarios such as business horizontal scaling and multi-environment setup (such as replicating the production environment for testing), you often need to create a batch of new instances with configurations identical to existing ones. If you manually configure all parameters from scratch on the purchase page each time, it is not only time-consuming but also prone to introducing discrepancies due to inconsistent parameter entries.
Distributed Cache (Redis-compatible) provides the Purchase with Same Configuration feature. You can initiate this operation for a target instance from the instance list or the instance details page. The system then redirects you to the purchase page using the configuration of that instance as a template and automatically populates parameters such as the edition, specifications, network settings, and parameter template. You only need to specify the name and access password for the new instance to place an order quickly, without manually configuring each item.

Feature List

After you initiate the Purchase with Same Configuration, parameters are automatically populated on the purchase page based on the configuration of the source instance. Configuration items that are strongly related to the instance's intrinsic properties are automatically inherited. However, configuration items that are strongly related to the new instance's identity and access credentials require you to reconfigure them. The details are shown in the following table:
Configuration Item
Auto-Filled or Not
Description
Billing Mode
Auto-filled
Inherited from the billing mode of the source instance.
Region
Auto-filled
Inherited from the region of the source instance.
Version Edition
Auto-filled
Includes the storage engine (Redis edition / Valkey edition / Memcached edition) and the specific compatible version, which are consistent with the source instance.
Specifications Configuration
Auto-filled
Includes the architecture type (standard architecture / cluster architecture), memory specification, number of shards under cluster architecture, replica quantity, and more.
Network Configuration
Auto-filled
Inherits the region, AZ, VPC, and subnet of the source instance by default. If the available IP address resources in the subnet of the source instance are insufficient, you need to select another subnet or create a new one on the purchase page.
Parameter template
Auto-filled
Inherits the parameter template associated with the source instance to ensure consistent runtime parameters.
Alarm policy
Auto-filled
Inherits the alarm configuration policy of the source instance.
Instance Name
Reset required
To avoid confusion with the source instance, you need to enter the new instance name yourself.
Access Password
Reset required
For security reasons, the password will not be inherited, and you need to set an access password for the new instance separately.
Note:
All automatically populated parameters can be manually adjusted on the purchase page. If you want the new instance to differ from the source instance in certain aspects, such as having a larger memory specification or being in a different AZ, you can modify these settings directly on the purchase page before placing the order.

Directions

1. Log in to the Distributed Cache console. At the top of the page, select the region where your target instance is located.
2. In the instance list, locate the target instance. In the Operation column, click More > Buy Same Configuration.

3. The system redirects you to the purchase page and automatically populates information such as the edition, specifications, network settings, and parameter template from the source instance. Please confirm or adjust each configuration as needed.
4. Enter the name for the new instance in the Instance Name field, and set the access password for the new instance in the Password field.
5. After confirming that the configuration is correct, click Buy Now and complete the payment. The new instance will then be created.
For specific configurations, see Purchase Instance.

Notes

The Purchase with Same Configuration feature only copies the configuration parameters of the source instance. It does not copy the business data stored within it. If you need to synchronize data from the source instance to the new instance, use methods such as Data Transfer Service (DTS) after the new instance is created.
Network information is populated by default based on the region, AZ, VPC, and subnet of the source instance. If the source instance's VPC has insufficient IP address resources, you will be prompted on the purchase page to select a different VPC.
If a specification or edition of the source instance is discontinued or unavailable for purchase on the current page, you will be prompted to select an available alternative configuration.
