Scenarios

Tencent Cloud supports converting yearly/monthly subscription Cloud Virtual Machine (CVM) instances to underwriting instances. For details, see Conversion Rules and Use Limits below. This document introduces how to perform conversion through the console, allowing you to convert instances as needed.
Note:
Underwriting is a beta billing mode. If you want to use it, contact your business manager to apply for activation.
After conversion to underwriting instances, your monthly service fees will be recalculated based on the discount corresponding to the selected underwriting duration.
In the underwriting mode, the instance refund entry will be disabled. As a result, you cannot refund the instance before underwriting expiration. Additionally, you cannot adjust the configuration or convert to other billing modes during this period. It is recommended to proceed with caution.

Conversion Rules

We provide the billing mode conversion feature in the CVM console. The specific rules are as follows:
It is supported to convert a single yearly/monthly subscription instance to an underwriting instance or perform instance conversion in batches.
The feature only supports converting the billing mode of instances to underwriting. Billing modes for other products, such as CBS and ENI, remain unchanged.
After a successful conversion of the billing mode, the used part for the current month is settled in the pay-as-you-go billing mode; then the mode is converted to underwriting immediately and the price difference for the current month is refunded to the user. The next renewal date will be set to the start of the underwriting lifecycle. The refund amount is calculated as follows:
Refund amount = Paid amount - Pay-as-you-go amount for the used part in the current month - Fees of remaining underwriting period.
After a successful conversion of the billing mode, the instance refund entry will be disabled. As a result, you cannot perform refund operations or convert to other billing modes before underwriting expiration.

Use Limits

For non-yearly/monthly subscription instances, conversion is not supported.
For yearly/monthly subscription instances with incomplete conversion orders, conversion is not supported.
If the yearly/monthly subscription discount corresponding to the instance specification is lower than the discount for underwriting, conversion is not supported.

Operation Steps

1. Log in to the CVM console.
2. On the instance management page, select different instance conversion operations based on your actual requirements.
Convert a Single Instance
Convert Multiple Instances
On the instance management page, perform operations based on the actually used view mode.
List view: In the operation column on the right side, choose More > Instance settings > Switch to underwriting as shown below:
Note:
You can also check the instances that need to be converted, and choose More actions > Instance settings > Switch to underwriting at the top.

Tab view: On the instance page, choose More actions > Instance settings > Switch to underwriting as shown below:

Check all instances that need to be converted, and choose More actions > Instance settings > Switch to underwriting at the top. Then, You can convert the billing modes of instances in batches, as shown below:
Note:
For instances that cannot be operated, the reason will be displayed.

3. In the Switch to underwriting pop-up window, confirm the total refund amount and the monthly fees for underwriting.
4. Check I have read and agreed to the billing policies of switching from monthly subscription to underwriting, and click OK. In the Switch to underwriting window, check whether the instance has been converted to complete the conversion operation.
